I am completely new to this forum and also to making Flash games. I have played them for a little while now but so far have not had much luck with making my own things in Flash.I am a big fan of Stargate SG1 (as well as the film), and then Stargate Atlantis. However, one thing always annoys me a little when watching the show. Every time they get their hands on something good, they lose it within an episode of two.A friend and I made a list (just for fun) of everything they had lost so far in Stargate Atlantis, so we could see how much they could still have if the shows had been made differently. This gave me the idea of making a game where the player would take the role of Dr Weir and by playing out the episodes we could see how well they would do, or whether they would simply end up losing everything in the same way as the shows had.In my spare time I have written out all the ideas and rules of the game along with a lot of Missions and other things for the player to go through.
I even have a lot of graphics done for the game.The problem is that I have no idea how to make something like this. I have seen enough Flash games to know it can be done, I just don't know how. That's why I would like to find other people who also like Stargate Atlantis who can use Flash to make the ideas I have written into a Flash game and hopefully help me learn a little more than the very basics along the way.You wouldn't need to be the best Flash user ever, as I have said I am pretty rubbish so anyone would be better than me. Without wishing to come across as arrogant I think if done well (thats to say much better than I could ever do by myself) then it would be really fun.I agree it would take some complicated programming to make it to the depth I have written it so far.
However, once a basic setup is made for it and a few Missions written then hopefully I would be able to get by just editing whats there and learning as I go and be able to pull my weight a bit more on the programming side of things. Even if we could just get a few people together and only make a little demo version so to speak with say 2 Missions and without any really advanced ideas then it may attract more people so it would be easier to make. If anyone is interested I have a few Word files with a lot more details so just pm me or give me your email address and I'll get in touch.Even if you cant use Flash that well you can always just see what its like and offer feedback.

Hi everyone, I have emailed everyone who seemed interested, some have replied, some havent. If you were expecting an email and didnt receive it then let me know and I'll send it again. In the meantime, here is a list of most of the graphics we will need for the game. I have tried to keep the list as complete as possible but obviously there are some things I will have missed. Anyway, anyone who wants to help with graphics now knows exactly what we need.
If you have made some then just reply saying which ones you have done and then send me a message or email with them in a file so I can have a look.Obviously some things will end up being done more than once (I would be supprised if we end up with less than 5 different versions of the ancient warship) but with some things we will need more than one, and with the others we can just pick the best out of what we have. Once they have been decided on for definate then I will post an updated list so that people dont carry on repeating unneccessarily. One thing that must be kept in mind is the size of the file. With all these listed assets the game is going to be over 10 megs estimated and even that is optimistic. Probably some better planning. Only include things you will need and cut all the extra out.
I doubt the game will go through all the main characters in the series. I doubt if it'll even need a third of them, lest the game should be hours long.Just remember to be conscious of what you're trying to achieve and where you're trying to go. It'll improve the efficiency of the creation process.Also, the more complex the features become, the more complex the programming becomes.
This not only makes it more difficult on your programmer but endangers your project of having bugs. So, choices should also be limited and a clear defined path (at least from the production point of view) should be outlined through the whole production. The combination for Abydos on my keyboard is VUD.MQ where Q is the point of origin. I'm Dutch but using a UK keyboard layout if I remember correctly. I also noticed some glyphs are not on my keyboard.Perhaps go to Tollan. On my keyboard the address is Y/V Right alt H with a Q again.If that didn't do the trick, you should try random keys untill you have the right address.

I am anything but fluent in french so reading the comments is almost impossible, and the keyboard is killing my middlefinger when I try to drive the MALP, as the key for forward is locked to the Z instead of the regular W.
