The problem is resolved but you will not like it.I did a trace in my system that was getting the same error.I thought the problem was the lack of SSE4.x support in my system. But not only. The problem (for you too) is the lack of AVX support. Your CPU doesn't support those instructions.Look further down on this comparison page:or another comparison here:In the section 'Instruction set extensions'.
The i5-760 doesn't have them.In particular, the first instruction (might be more after that) that it crashes on, is 'vmovdqu' in VrayBridge19.cdl64.I renamed to '19' and tried the VrayBridge18.cdl64 from v3.500 but no luck. It brings up Vray fine but then it crashes on render, as expected. The other (rare) possibility, is that the OS claims it has AVX support when it doesn't. It seems it used to be the case for Win7 SP0 but was fixed in SP1. If Win10 has the same problem I don't know.Even so, this makes a difference only if the plugin can support either case (AVX vs non-AVX).
Asking for faster instruction support they get better performance speed without having to improve the code.Unless a later release of 3.600 removes the AVX requirement (and SSE4.x hopefully), the plugin is not usable on older CPU chips. This ended up as an interesting exercise (and wasted time if not for learning something new in the process). As is, no AVX support in the cpu and also enabled by the OS, you just can't run this version of Vray.Lots of smart people around and with some googling I came across a way to get it to work.It will be slow though starting up C4D and its plugins or at least it is for me and my lack of RAM.1. Go here:Scroll down to Quick Links, click 'Installation', continue to the download of the Windows version and get it.2.
Unzip the file and it will expand to a main folder with a few subfolders under it.3. Rename the expanded main folder to something like 'sde' and copy or move it to some drive, say C:4.
In the User Environment variables add to the 'Path' one more value to the end. If you used the suggestion it will be: C:sdeIf you add this value in the System Environment variables instead, you'll have to reboot so don't bother. User variables are good enough and take effect right away.5. Create a new shortcut to C4D R19 (or whatever):Copy the existing one, rename it to C4D R19 emulated and change its target to:C:sdesde.exe - 'C:Program FilesMAXONCinema 4D R19CINEMA 4D.exe'Adjust the string to match your folder names if needed.
Don't miss the two connected dashes with a space around them.6. Run C4D using this shortcut if you want to use Vray. In non-Vray cases, use your standard shortcut. And here's what I got in my non-AVX laptop. Run C4D using this shortcut if you want to use Vray. In non-Vray cases, use your standard shortcut. And here's what I got in my non-AVX laptop. Which part is so complicated that you can't follow?1) You download a file and you unzip it in some folder.2) You add that folder in the environment variable PATH. Preferably the PATH in the 'User' section. It makes no difference other than having to reboot if you put it in the PATH of the 'System' section.3) You run the program in the folder you unzipped so:sde.exe - 'C:Program FilesMAXONCinema 4D R19CINEMA 4D.exe'You can make a shortcut using this command so you don't have to type it every time. The renaming of the folder you unzipped, is only for cosmetic reasons but mostly to keep the length of all the PATH variables you have, as short as possible (there's a Windows-imposed limit to the length).
Ok, now this is strange. I have a Mac Pro, 2- 6 core 5690 Xeons, 12 cores (24 threads) @ 3.46 ghz. My cpu's are pre-AVX. Vray does not work on my Windows 10 drive, but it does work on macOS 10.13.6Did they not make the Mac version AVX?
It works like a champ here, I really have no desire to emulate AVX, I heard on another forum that it was so slow that it was like taking 10 steps backwards. Keeping my eye out for the updated version that seems to work.I use Windows and Linux so not just a Mac Guy. Strange it works on Mac, but ok with me.
